How do you cope when you get punched in the mouth?

As a business owner, having a plan seems like an obvious place to start; and that is because the obvious truths are often the most powerful but neglected ones.

To plan well and understand how you are going to get your business to a place that you can call success you need to know what success looks like – for YOU.

But there will be times (like in life) when the plan gets disrupted; when you and your business get disrupted.

As Mike Tyson once said:

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

How do you cope when you get punched in the mouth?

#1 Most of your plan should survive - the team, systems, processes. They may need adapting, but you don't need to start again.

#2 Your newly adapted plan needs to deal with the NOW. Your ears may hurt, and your eyes are swelling up, but you need to be decisive and your team around you need to be aware, accountable, and responsible.

So...

  • Have you got a plan?

  • Is everyone aware of it?

  • Do they all know what their role and their 100% looks like within this plan?

  • Will you be you ready to react and Fight...or will you Freeze or Flight?
