Your Business Spring Clean

Spring is officially here, and we certainly noticed it over the weekend on the football sidelines supporting the kids without three layers and a woolly hat on!

It’s that time of year where we have a spring clean, be it the garden, wardrobes, garage...the list goes on.

And the same goes for business, because you’re already in Q2 of 2025.

So, if you’ve not already done so, now is the time to seriously “spring clean” your business and do some vital housekeeping:

1. The Numbers:

  • How was your 3+9 (your 3 months of Actuals and 9 months of Forecast)?

  • Did you hit your Quarter 1 targets? By how much?

  • Are you below target?  What are you planning to do to get back on track?

  • Do you have a Scorecard that you’re using across the business that Alerts you to any potential issues before they happen?

2. The People:

  • Are your team fully aligned to your Vision & Goals?

  • Do they know what their 100% looks like?

  • Are they all using the Scorecard, with a weekly review to monitor and improve?

3. The Processes:

  • Are there still “things” stuck in your head that are causing bottlenecks or blockages?

  • Have you documented all these processes so that you can start delegating with confidence and control?

  • Are you still getting Interrupted on a daily basis? Have you recorded a log so you can see which of these three reasons (“I don’t know how to” - “I’m not allowed to” - “I need stroking”) are why you’re getting constantly interrupted and de-railed?

  • Are you regularly asking your team and your customers What Worked Well...Even Better If? And are you acting on this feedback?

A spring clean can feel like a laborious exercise when you’re already busy, but believe me, allocating time to do this (properly), will give you more clarity and control, and it will free up your time to focus on all those important activities that will move your business from A to B.

If you have any questions or need a bit of direction, you know where I am (well, on Saturday I’ll be spring cleaning the garden summer house!).

Good luck with this and try to enjoy the process – you’ll be surprised at how liberating it will make you feel.
