It’s another one of those National Days today, where many in our circles will be celebrating with hashtags galore.
Today’s dedication is: National Entrepreneurship Day.
Don’t get me wrong, I love an excuse to celebrate; especially all those brilliant minds that have changed the way we live our lives and shaped our futures.
But, for me, today should be called Counter Culture Day. And it’s this that IWILL be celebrating!
Encouraging people to swim against the tide of normality...
Choosing to do something different...
Challenging the norms of the majority...
Originally this initiative heralded from the 60′s and focused on Freedom…
Freedom to explore one’s potential. Freedom to create oneself. Freedom of personal expression. Freedom from scheduling. Freedom from rigidly defined roles and hierarchical statuses…
For me, this is the attitude of the successful entrepreneur; to look at the majority and do the opposite...
To study the majorities marketing and take a different approach...
To purposely NOT to conform to how people expect them to.
Some may call these people mavericks, renegades, or other “dangerous” titles.
Me, I just think they are smart!
Mark Twain summed it up perfectly:
“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
So, my challenge to you all today is to disturb the comfortable and do the opposite of your competitors, because by definition, they are in the majority.
Have a great Counter Culture Day….
