Love What You Do
A few years ago, we unleashed our SCALE Manifesto to share with the world the way we think, act and behave. Not only does it give us internal clarity, but it demonstrates what people can expect from us. Everything we do is centred around this; and it seemed fitting today to share one of them:
“Love what you do”
It’s flexible and rewarding running your own business and being your own boss…BUT it can be frustrating, stressful and lonely.
One of the chapters in my book I don’t work Fridays talks about natural talent, and how that natural talent alone will rarely be enough to get anyone to their goals.
You need to work hard to achieve anything in life, and I’m certainly not saying you don’t work hard enough. In fact, it’s likely that you’re working way too many hours, and the work-life balance isn’t what you thought it would be when you set up your ‘lifestyle business’.
When I talk to many business owners and entrepreneurs, I always start with trying to understand WHY they started in the first place.
Some immediately give a direct answer and relay their goals, ambitions and tropical island retirement plans with clarity and passion.
BUT most talk around the edges of the start of their journey, drift off a little into the immediate future for a while, and then arrive back at simply enjoying the work that they do.
These people are the ones that I can (and LOVE) to help the most, but ONLY if they are prepared to accept that desire alone will not get them to where they want to be.
This week, take a step back and remember the reason WHY you started your business, because when you’re stuck IN your business running around like a headless chicken, it can be easy to forget.
