Yateley Silverbacks Basketball Club Announces Fifth Year of Partnership with Amazon #1 bestselling book I don’t work Fridays
Yateley Silverbacks Basketball Club is pleased to announce the renewal of its sponsored partnership with Amazon #1 bestselling business book I don’t work Fridays by Martin Norbury for the 2024/2025 basketball season. This is the fifth consecutive season that I don’t work Fridays has committed to helping Yateley Silverbacks both financially with a contribution of over £22,000 over the last five years, as well as with business and marketing support.
With 152 members, eleven teams, and seven coaches, the sponsorship helps the club run 19.5 hours of training sessions per week at four venues, plus additional time for junior games in the Central Venue League (CVL) and National League.
The partnership further evolved this year, with the launch of the I don’t work Fridays 4x4 Charity Challenge which saw 83 juniors participate in Yateley Silverbacks Basketball Club Vs Camberley Town Youth Football Club in four sports. £6,000 was raised with £3,000 going to Farnborough Sands, and £1,500 to both Yateley Silverbacks and Camberley Town Youth FC. The next 4x4 Charity Challenge will take place on Sunday 1st June 2025 at Yateley Manor School.
Pete Daines, Yateley Silverbacks Basketball Club Founder, Chairman, and Director of Coaching said:
“We’ve seen our club’s outgoings rise by 33% over the last two seasons due to increases in costs outside of our control such as court hire, registration fees and referee payments. We’ve been reluctant to pass all of these additional expenses onto our loyal members, so this sponsorship from I don’t’ work Fridays not only helps keep the club ticking over, but helps invest in our players, club and community.”
“Martin and Jacki of I don’t’ work Fridays are integral to our club, and they embody our Silverbacks Seven set of values: Respect, Passion, Teamwork, Pride, Health, Family and Inspire. We’re really looking to working together for a fifth year.”
Martin Norbury, Business Owner and Author of I don’t work Fridays commented:
“Jacki and I are in the fortunate position to be able to support local community clubs like Yateley Silverbacks, and five years on from our initial sponsorship it’s fantastic to see the positive impact our partnership continues to have.”
“The club’s ethos is not just about competition, although everyone plays to win; it’s also about fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among its members. As a family business who helps other business owners create a business on their T.E.R.M.S so they have a healthier work-life-balance, having the right team all aligned to one vision is a core step in our mentoring program. We have so much synergy with Pete and the club; it’s way more than just about bouncing a ball, and we’re really excited about the season ahead!”
