Turn the How into the Who

Turn the How into the Who

August 11, 20261 min read

As you know, I’m a prolific reader and love learning. One book I regularly revisit is Dan Sullivan’s Who Not How; it’s all about: how to achieve bigger goals through accelerating teamwork.

I’m fascinated by the concept of the book, because I know first-hand that business owners don’t do things because they either (a) don’t know how to, or (b) they don’t want to, for whatever reason. And so, the task in hand stays on a list (at best) and lingers on our mind as we keep putting it off.

But Dan Sullivan says, instead of asking ourselves:

“How can I do this?”

We should be asking:

“Who can do this for me?”

You’re likely the Swiss Army Knife in your business, so this week get into the habit of instead of asking yourself, “How will I achieve this goal?” ask: “Who will help me achieve this goal?” ...

Who can fix my website bugs?

Who can help me with my HR issue?

Who can do my bookkeeping?

Who could convert those leads for me?

Who can process those orders?

Who could I partner with to X, Y, Z?

By turning the How into the Who is a totally different problem to solve. It makes us stop limiting potential on what we can solely do and makes us delegate those tasks that we’re not great at, and which are sapping our time and energy, and derailing our business.

Exciting, right?
