Own It
One of our values in life is ‘own it’.
Be response-able, meaning you are able to respond.
It’s a message we reaffirm to our clients and kids constantly.
Whatever happens, we try to get them to think about what they could have done differently.
I saw an article by a friend of mine and thought I would use his insight, thanks Robin.
Robin was at an event where he watched a speaker delivering a talk in front of several thousand people. The speaker said,
“I’ve got three simple steps which will make you ALL an instant millionaire!”
As he started talking, he made several observations…
… four-fifths of the audience didn’t bother to take notes as he suggested they buy a copy of The Richest Man In Babylon…
Of the one-fifth of those taking notes, perhaps only a fifth of them would bother to buy the book.
And of the fifth who would even buy the book, only a quarter would carry out his final instruction…
…which was to,
“Read the book 7 times and practice the 7 steps in the book.”
For the initiated (and good at maths), there’s your 1%.
- 1/5th Take Notes
- 1/5th Buy the Thing
- 1/4th Actually Do the Thing
- Just 1% take action!
Now those response-able will read that and say I AM in those statistics and probably NOT the one per cent
How often have you paid for a book, course, coach, or workshop and then never implemented a thing from it?
Stop wasting your money and thinking that buying a “thing” will resolve the challenges you are facing in your business.
The challenge is internal and specific to you. It’s not something external to you.
A course, coach, book, workshop…all these things will raise your awareness.
But if you’re not paying attention to the insights you’re learning and fail to implement based on the insights you get, then nothing is going to change, and you get nothing.
Please take responsibility and ask: “what can I do or have done in this/that situation?” as then you really Own It.

Martin
